The John Spalj Area

Featuring an NHL-Sized Ice Arena

in the winter (october – march)

Catering to skaters and hockey players from all around the region. Home to the Northern Lakes Lightning Association, as well as the host of Breezy Point Sports Hockey Tournaments. Hosts the Lakes Area Hockey League for adults that includes teams from Brainerd, Baxter, Crosslake, Pequot Lakes, and Aitkin. We also regularly host a pick-up hockey league a few times a week, and have regular open skate times for all levels of skaters!

Open gym space & pickleball

in the summer (april – september)

Catering to any and all active players of pickleball, or other open space needs. If you don’t happen to have pickleball equipment, no worries! We also have all pickleball equipment available at the front desk to borrow for free. The Arena is also available for event and banquet rentals during the summer months. The arena is also where we host part of our summer camp program, Kids Kamp. Held June, July, and August.

Indoor Walking Track

AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND

The Arena also features a slip-resistant indoor walking track around the outside of the sectioned-off arena area; Perfect for getting some miles in while staying out of the weather. If you plan to use the walking track in the winter, please plan accordingly and bundle up! The ice makes the arena quite cold, but often a bit more temperate than the Minnesota winter, plus no ice or snow to deal with!

If you would like to stop in and try it out, the first Wednesday of the month, every month is Walk & Talk Wednesday! At this time, the walking track is open to members of the local area for free!
